Come back, give it your all and win
After eighteen years, Latzen returned to Oñati yesterday, the town that saw and heard them being born. And it can undoubtedly be said that the townspeople were eager to hear them: given its size, filling “Foruen enparantza” square is not easy, and that’s exactly what Aitor Uriarte, Joxe Azpitarte, Gorka Lazkano, and Yerko Ortiz achieved.
The concert began after showing a video summarizing the band’s journey, starting with the song ‘Txori txarrak’ from last year’s album ‘Denboraren orbainak’ and ending with ‘Ze ingo xu,’ which brought frenzy to the square. Over the two-hour performance, they played a total of twenty songs, mixing newer tracks like ‘Dogma,’ ‘Eutsi,’ and ‘Zilarrezko kaiola’ with long-embedded tunes like ‘Torturaren artea,’ ‘Indarra,’ ‘Ihesa ihes,’ and ‘Laztana.’
During the gig, they remembered their former bandmate Iker Martinez de Zuazo, as well as the friends and family who have been lost along the way during their 33-year journey. And the quartet showed that maybe 33 years have passed since Latzen was formed, but the strength and passion for music they had back then remains the same.
